Government Withdrawal Of Funding For Scientific Research

That this House expresses its great concern at the damage inflicted on British scientific research and on Britain's standing within the international scientific community by the Government's withdrawal of funding of ú5 million from the joint British/German gravitational radiation detector research project on the existence of gravity waves being undertaken by the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Glasgow University, especially in view of the German Government's contribution of ú30 million towards the project.
