Peace And Progress In Northern Ireland
EDM number 769 in 1991-92, proposed by Harry Barnes on 27/02/1992.
That this House salutes the escalation of broadly based and imaginative activities for peace throughout these islands; notes the peace picket of the Sinn Fein Ard Fheis in Dublin on 22nd February which brought together political and trade union figures from across the political spectrum, as well as the local residents of Ballyfermot, in calling upon that party to renounce the use of force; further notes the organization on Saturday, 29th February of peace trains between Dublin and Belfast on the theme of 'blitz out, peace in'; calls upon democrats of all parties and none to give their full support to these brave manifestations of people power; and recognizes that such activities can play a major role in creating the conditions for political progress in Northern Ireland.
This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
