Re-Opening Of Bir Zeit University

EDM number 767 in 1991-92, proposed by Mike Watson on 27/02/1992.

That this House notes that the Israeli Government's latest closure order on Bir Zeit University in the West Bank expires at the end of February; further notes that the closure contravenes the fourth Geneva Convention and has been condemned by the European Parliament, the United Nations, the United States of America and other governments; and therefore urges Her Majesty's Government to make immediate representations to the Israeli Government not to renew the closure order, allowing Bir Zeit University to resume the provision of higher education to those at present denied it.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
