Cuba And The U.s. Blockade

That this House notes that in pursuit of maintaining and tightening its 30 year old blockade of Cuba, the United States has gone far beyond suspending commerce between its own citizens and Cuba to seek the widest possible extraterritorial application of its embargo laws, and in doing so has exceeded the limits of its national jurisdiction under international law and has violated the sovereignty of other states; further notes that this unjust and prolonged blockade, which even applied to food and medicine, not only violates international law but also infringes the human rights of the people of Cuba; therefore calls on her Majesty's Government to support the item on the agenda of the 46th session of the United Nations General Assembly on the necessity of ending the US blockade; and furthermore urges President Bush to lift the blockade and begin normalising relationships between the two countries.
