Cancer Treatment In North Staffs
EDM number 636 in 1991-92, proposed by Mark Fisher on 06/02/1992.
That this House views with concern the news that nearly one thousand cancer patients attending the North Staffs Royal Infirmary have been receiving inadequate treatment over a period of nine years; expresses its great sympathy for the 447 patients still living and the families of the 500 patients who have died in that period; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to set up a Department of Health inquiry to establish whether other health authorities with similar equipment have had comparable problems; whether there has been any criminal negligence; what role the Department's Inspectorate has played; and to determine the legal and financial liabilities of the health authority, of the Government and, if relevant in the future, of health trusts when faced with comparable claims for damages.
This motion has been signed by a total of 36 MPs.
