Israeli Interrogation Practices

EDM number 619 in 1991-92, proposed by Mike Watson on 05/02/1992.

That this House deplores the death of Mustapha Abdulla Al-Akawi, a resident of Jerusalem, while under interrogation in Hebron prison on the occupied West Bank on 4th February; notes that Al-Akawi's unexplained death occurred less than 24 hours after he appeared before an Israeli military judge in Hebron court, showing evidence of torture and complaining of severe beatings by Israeli interrogators; and believes Al-Akawi's death tragically confirms the need for an independent investigation of Israel's interrogation practices and for access to detainees during interrogation by lawyers, family and independent doctors.

This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs.
