Self Determination For Jammu And Kashmir (No.2)
EDM number 604 in 1991-92, proposed by Max Madden on 03/02/1992.
That this House re-affirms its support for all the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determination; urges maximum restraint by all military and security forces on 11th February when a civilian non-violent and symbolic mass crossing of the border into Indian-occupied Kashmir will take place; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to request the Secretary-General of the United Nations to make contacts with all interested parties, including the Commonwealth, to identify how progress may be made in securing the withdrawal of all foreign troops from all parts of Jammu and Kashmir, a transitional administration established and a plebiscite held, supervised by the United Nations, offering the people of Jammu and Kashmir the options of remaining part of India, acceding to Pakistan or becoming independent.
