Eavesdropping Devices

EDM number 568 in 1991-92, proposed by Paul Flynn on 28/01/1992.

That this House regrets the refusal by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Home Office, in a letter to the honourable Member for Newport West of 14th January, to ban or restrict the sale of eavesdropping devices that claim to 'hear through walls two feet thick' or to intercept telephone messages; does not understand what the legitimate uses by members of the public referred to in the Minister's letter are; and condemns the use of such devices as an outrageous invasion of personal privacy.
