That this House notes that the Department of Transport is reviewing the criteria relating to the introduction of speed limits currently set out in Roads Circular 1/80 and supports the campaign by North Norfolk Liberal Democrats, who have collected residents' signatures for petitions in 18 villages in North Norfolk calling for a relaxation of the criteria so that highway authorities would be encouraged to introduce 30 mile per hour limits in small villages where local people wanted it.
