That this House is appalled at the news of the effective ousting of Mr Malcolm Edwards as Commercial Director of the British Coal Corporation and disappointed that he will no longer negotiate contracts with the electricity generating companies; notes that it is widely recognised that he is the best negotiator British Coal has; believes that Mr Edwards has the best interests of the British coal industry at heart and calls on the Secretary of State for Energy to use his authority to make sure that Mr Edwards' present position is confirmed immediately and that he is given full support, both by the rest of British Coal management and the Department of Energy, for his stance in negotiations with the generators.
