Memorandum By The Honourable Member For Islington South And Finsbury

EDM number 498 in 1991-92, proposed by David Shaw on 17/01/1992.

That this House notes the memorandum written by the honourable Member for Islington South and Finsbury asking vital and unanswered questions about Labour's economic policies; shares his view that a 'flight of capital' and a 'flood of public sector wage claims' could follow the election of a Labour government; believes that his references to increased borrowing, incomes policy and a 'luxury rate' of value-added tax demonstrate that the Labour Party have learnt nothing from their disastrous stewardship of the economy in the 1970s; and joins the honourable Member in asking his colleagues questions such as 'How serious are we on inflation?' and 'What is the order of priorities?', to which the whole country would like to know the answers.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
