That this House notes with horror and disgust the contents of the Amnesty International report "How the United Kingdom makes torture and death its business"; deplores the fact that leg-irons made by the Birmingham-based company Hiatts are being used today by prison authorities in Malawi, while another British company, Electronic Intelligence, installed an electronic torture chamber inside the headquarters of the Special Branch in Dubai; calls on the Government to condemn any British company trading in terror; and to introduce, as a matter of urgency, legislation banning the manufacture of equipment which can only be used for torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, or for the purpose of execution.
