Inverclyde Enterprise Zone
EDM number 457 in 1991-92, proposed by Norman A Godman on 19/12/1991.
That this House views with the most serious concern the poor condition of the Inverclyde Enterprise Zone, a condition which is worsened by the decision of Britannia Life Assurance to withdraw from their zone site; believes that Locate in Scotland has, by its indifference to the undoubted attractions of the Lower Clyde, failed to encourage potential investment in the zone and that this regrettable failure has been compounded by the lack of involvement of the Scottish Office in the development of the local economy; but, at the same time, is of the opinion that if Her Majesty's Government were to support the enlightened proposal to situate the Land Registry Office in the enterprise zone, this would provide a much-needed boost to the morale of the people of the peninsula.
