Yanomami Indian Reservation, Brazil

EDM number 434 in 1991-92, proposed by Jacques Arnold on 18/12/1991.

That this House welcomes the decision of Fernando Collor de Mello, President of Brazil, to establish a rain forest reservation covering 94, 000 square kilometres on Brazil's northern border with Venezuela, which effectively safeguards the original lands of the Yanomami Indians, the world's largest primitive tribe; and congratulates Senhor Jose Lutzenberg, the Brazilian Environment Secretary on his achievement in securing this reservation.
