National Health Service Trusts In Bristol
EDM number 403 in 1991-92, proposed by Jonathan Sayeed on 16/12/1991.
That this House congratulates the Weston Area (Bristol) NHS Trust on new developments under way or planned to improve services to patients, including a new CT scanner to be running from next April, construction of a new rehabilitation unit for the care of the elderly at Weston to begin next month and 30 extra nursing and therapy posts to be created during 1992-93; also congratulates the United Bristol Healthcare NHS Trust on current developments, including a new gynaecology unit opened in October, a courtesy bus service to help patients to travel to hospital from the city centre, and substantial reductions in waiting times for various specialties; welcomes the positive proposals put forward by Bristol's recently approved second-wave NHS trusts, including maximum 12 months waiting time for non-urgent hospital treatment and more day case work at Southmead Acute and Community Services and more use of laser technology, three extra consultant psychiatrists and a patient education and information centre at Frenchay Acute and Community Services; and recognises that similar improvements are being carried out up and down the country made possible by the increased freedoms and responsiveness to patients brought about by NHS trust status.
