That this House deplores the reply given by the Prime Minister to the honourable Member for Halifax when he was asked to confirm that his Employment Secretary will no longer be able to participate in meetings of the Social Affairs Council; notes that the Prime Minister evaded the question and gave a wholly false impression about a vital aspect of the Treaty which he signed and its consequences; further notes the fact is that the Protocol could not be more clear and that in paragraph two it is clearly stated that the United Kingdom shall not take part in the deliberations on and the adoption of Commission proposals relating to fields covered by the above-mentioned agreement; and considers that the truth is that the Prime Minister has signed away Britain's right to have a say in any policies which are crucial to the lives of British people and has betrayed them and shown the shallowness of his claim to care about citizens' rights.
