British Telecom Staff
EDM number 38 in 1991-92, proposed by Peter Hain on 31/10/1991.
That this House notes the contrast between the exorbitant salaries paid to the Chairman and Managing Director of British Telecom and the current policy of depressing staff pay whilst simultaneously contracting out low-paid manual jobs and making redundant nearly 7,000 telephone operators and up to 15,000 telecommunication engineers; and further calls on British Telecom to favour the interests of customers and staff before the private greed of its senior directors.
This motion has been signed by a total of 47 MPs.
