Occupational Pension Funds

EDM number 367 in 1991-92, proposed by Graham Allen on 10/12/1991.

That this House notes the recent abuses of occupational pension funds; and calls upon the government to bring forward legislation which will ensure legal provision for an independent chairman, with 50 per cent. independently elected and properly trained employee representatives on the boards of all funds, full and up-to-date disclosure of information concerning a fund's financial state and the allocation of its surpluses, tougher regulations for the investment of pension fund monies in the parent company, and the use of any other surpluses for the benefit of pensioners rather than only for 'holidays' for employers' contributions.
