Revenue Allocations To Regional Health Authorities

EDM number 358 in 1991-92, proposed by Spencer Batiste on 09/12/1991.

That this House welcomes the ú1.9 billion increase in resources for hospital and community health services in England in 1992-93, announced on 5th December by the Secretary of State for Health, a real terms increase of 5 per cent.; notes that almost ú1.5 billion more will be allocated to the 14 regional health authorities, a real terms increase of 4.8 per cent., and extra money will go on initiatives such as Aids services and prevention, Project 2000 training for nurses and measures to reduce the hours worked by junior doctors; notes that these allocations will ensure that all regions are able to meet medical advances and other pressures; and considers that this massive increase in resources, bringing real terms growth in the total National Health Service's spending to over 56 per cent. since 1979, demonstrates beyond doubt this Government's commitment to a thriving, publicly funded health service.
