Aberdeen Evening Express - Drive Alive Campaign

EDM number 330 in 1991-92, proposed by Alex Salmond on 04/12/1991.

That this House congratulates the Aberdeen Evening Express on the start of its major Drive Alive campaign aimed at the reduction of the unacceptably high level of road casualties in the North East of Scotland; wishes the campaign well in bringing home to people the tragic consequences of irresponsible driving; and calls on the Scottish roads Minister to make a detailed policy response and statement on official efforts to tackle this serious situation through a combination of driver education starting in the schools, appropriate penalties for reckless driving convictions and key improvements in the areas where the accident level is directly related to the condition of the roads in the North East of Scotland.
