Labelling Of Cassettes And Records
EDM number 255 in 1991-92, proposed by John P Smith on 25/11/1991.
That this House deplores the fact that the EMI record company acted so irresponsibly as to refuse to place warning stickers on some of its records and cassettes thus allowing a situation to arise whereby Mrs Kay Morris of 27 Tan-Y-Fron Garden Suburb, Barry, South Glamorgan, unwittingly purchased a cassette for her young son which contains obscene and offensive language; and, in light of the harm this is doing to young children by not giving their mothers and fathers the right to exercise parental judgement, calls upon this company to immediately introduce a system of labelling material unsuitable for children before any more damage is done.
