Killing Of Demonstrators In East Timor
EDM number 232 in 1991-92, proposed by Hugh Dykes on 21/11/1991.
That this House condemns the shocking killing of over 200 innocent and peaceful demonstrators on 15th November 1991 in Dili, East Timor, by soldiers and police of the Indonesian forces; recalls that almost a third of the civilian population of this unlawfully seized territory have suffered a similar terrible fate at Indonesian hands since 1976; and calls upon the United Nations to take the necessary measures to investigate this latest tragic massacre and prevent further repetitions in the future, and to request the Indonesian authorities to introduce a plan for East Timor's self-determination.
