St Fergus Gas Switch-On

EDM number 229 in 1991-92, proposed by Alex Salmond on 21/11/1991.

That this House notes that the residents in the Buchan village of St Fergus were connected to mains gas suppliers from Friday 22nd November; notes that the connection was from Europe's largest gas terminal only a mile from their homes; welcomes the positive change in attitude by British Gas to their connection policy in rural areas; congratulates the company for opening the supply to a number of Buchan villages immediately and for the plans to further extend the supply in the future; and further notes that this long-standing anomaly and grievance has now been satisfactorily resolved to the mutual benefit of the company and Banff and Buchan constituency.
