EDM number 156 in 1991-92, proposed by John Cummings on 13/11/1991.

That this House notes with concern that Durham British Rail Station was devoid of telephone communication from the evening of 11th November until 9.15 a.m. on 12th November when a portable telephone was obtained from Newcastle Station and that passengers and staff were without communications so posing a serious threat to safety; calls upon British Rail immediately to provide portable telephones to staff at Durham Station on a permanent basis; and applauds the efforts of British Rail staff during this difficult period.
