BRITISH TELECOM CHAIRMAN'S PAY AND THE RELIEF OF TELEPHONE CHATLINE DEBT
EDM number 109 in 1991-92, proposed by Terry Lewis on 07/11/1991.
That this House is appalled at the recent pay increase awarded to the Chairman of British Telecom; is acutely aware that one justification advanced for this has been the high and rising level of profitability; draws attention to the fact that a significant contribution to BT's profits is from premium rate services; records that these have been responsible for massive debts being accrued by innocent subscribers; and therefore calls upon the BT Board to relieve families of this debt burden instead of distributing corporate largesse to themselves.
This motion has been signed by a total of 29 MPs.
