Differentiation Of Telephone Entertainment Services

EDM number 108 in 1991-92, proposed by Terry Lewis on 07/11/1991.

That this House notes the announcement by British Telecom that telephone entertainment services are to be differentiated from other premium rate services by the introduction of a distinctive number; cautiously welcomes this belated recognition of the need to regulate this lucrative segment of BT's business; believes however, that this timid move legitimises the existence of salacious, pornographic and other anti-social telephone services; and regrets that all the anomalies to which the honourable Member for Worsley has continually alerted the public have not been addressed.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
