Northern Region Low Pay Unit

That this House notes with dismay that the Northern Region, with the lowest paid workforce in England, is in imminent danger of losing the valuable services provided by its low pay unit, due to funding cuts resulting from the Government's reduction in grants to local authorities in the region and its imposition of the poll tax; notes the benefits provided by the unit through its advice and information services; and expresses its concern at the effects that closure could have upon the living standards of the region's already under-paid workforce.
