Northern Ireland
EDM number 975 in 1990-91, proposed by Peter Bottomley on 17/06/1991.
That this House recognises that all-party talks beginning in Ulster represent a major opportunity for progress and reconciliation; welcomes the fact that the constitutional parties of Northern Ireland are meeting together with the aim of reaching agreement on the future administration of the Province; congratulates the Government, and in particular the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, and the Opposition on the constructive assistance they have provided in bringing about the present situation which represents a considerable achievement in itself; and is confident that all those participating in these talks will do their utmost to deliver a successful outcome that would be universally recognised as a quite outstanding achievement.
