Westminster Housing Policies

EDM number 961 in 1990-91, proposed by Clive Soley on 13/06/1991.

That this House calls on the Prime Minister to dissociate himself from the policy of Westminster Council which, despite having empty properties available for sale to non-residents, is attempting to push homeless families out of the area; and reminds the Prime Minister that the BBC Panorama programme exposed an attempt by Conservative Westminster councillors to turn marginal wards into Tory council seats by using housing policy of this type and that this policy is still under investigation and may result in councils being surcharged.
