That this House is dismayed by the decision by management at Haymarket Publishing Group to unilaterally deny the right of the National Union of Journalists to represent its members in collective negotiations on pay and conditions; notes that management's decision has been taken after a long history of harmonious relations and beneficial agreements between the National Union of Journalists and Company, and despite the fact that the National Union of Journalists represents the majority of journalists at Haymarket and has suggested an ACAS conducted ballot of all journalists to ascertain their wishes; and calls upon the Right honourable Member for Henley to use his good offices to persuade Haymarket management that sound industrial relations are based upon the recognition of, and respect for, basic civil liberties.
