Rolls Royce Plc Proposals To Close The Leavesden Site

EDM number 881 in 1990-91, proposed by Doug Hoyle on 22/05/1991.

That this House condemns the proposal by Rolls Royce to close the Leavesden plant which is the only site in the United Kingdom manufacturing helicopter engines, which will mean the loss of 1,700 jobs plus high technology skills; believes this is scant reward for the outstanding efforts made by this same workforce during the Gulf War; and calls for the price paid by Rolls Royce, when they recently purchased the site from the Ministry of Defence, to be made public.
