Late Diagnosis Of Deafness In Young Children
EDM number 880 in 1990-91, proposed by Marjorie Mowlam on 22/05/1991.
That this House regrets the appalling situation that exists in the United Kingdom with regard to the late diagnosis of deafness in children; and recognises the long term damage to these children caused by the inability of the present screening system to pick up cases in the early years thus losing opportunities at a critical point in the child's development.
