SHELL AND BP'S WINDFALL OIL PROFITS
EDM number 87 in 1990-91, proposed by Alex Salmond on 16/11/1990.
That this House demands an investigation into the whereabouts of the ú1,000 million of windfall oil profits which Shell and BP claimed last week would go in oil taxation but which have not shown up in the Autumn Statement forecasts of oil revenues; and considers that Scottish people paying exorbitant sums for petrol and fuel regard the claims of the oil companies that money made in up-stream operations is not real profits with the same degree of scepticism as claims by the Tory Government that Scotland has benefited from the ú100,000 million - ú20, 000 per Scot - of oil revenues which have bankrolled the Tory Government over the last decade.
