Pensions Of Former Zimbabwe Public Servants
EDM number 844 in 1990-91, proposed by Norman Hogg on 15/05/1991.
That this House notes that the Zimbabwe Act 1979 guarantees that former public servants now resident in the United Kingdom receive remittance in Zimbabwe currency and that there is no provision for maintaining the sterling value of those pensions; recognises that the pensions of approximately 1,800 pensioners, including widows, are now worth less than 27 per cent. of their 1979 value; and calls upon the Government to extend the provisions of the Overseas Pensions Act 1973 to these pensioners.
This motion has been signed by a total of 55 MPs.
