Respect For Life And Family Rights

EDM number 826 in 1990-91, proposed by David Alton on 13/05/1991.

That, following the decision on 13th May by the courts to force a 12-year-old girl to undergo an abortion of a 20-week-old unborn child, against the wishes of the girl's mother, this House believes this to be a monstrous intrusion into family life by both social workers and the courts; believes such a decision to be incompatible with basic respect for life; reiterates its belief that laws which allow 184,000 abortions annually, the abortion of handicapped babies up to and even during birth, the abortion of perfectly healthy babies up until six months into pregnancy, and destructive experiments to be undertaken on human embryos, are inconsistent with civilised values.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
