Richmond Adult And Community College

EDM number 787 in 1990-91, proposed by Matthew Taylor on 01/05/1991.

That this House congratulates Richmond Adult & Community College on the high standard of their work exhibited in the Upper Waiting Hall for the week beginning Monday 29th April; applauds the valuable work carried out by adult education colleges around the country in offering general and wide-ranging education, providing access to higher education and improved career prospects, which is of particular benefit to the unemployed, woman returners and members of ethnic minorities, many of whom seek to redress the lack of adequate education earlier in life; commends Richmond Council for protecting its adult education service when in so many authorities the service has become an unintentional casualty of the community charge; and urges the Government to ensure that the White Paper proposals for post-16 education make adequate and careful provision to protect the wide range of adult education work and to require local education authorities to specify their plans for adult education.

This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
