University Finance

EDM number 782 in 1990-91, proposed by Keith Hampson on 01/05/1991.

That this House recognises the important contribution that the universities are making to the country's economic and social wellbeing and the productivity and efficiency gains they have made over the last few years; is conscious of the substantial extra burden of value-added tax which they now face; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to provide funding to enable a pay settlement to be reached for university academic staffs broadly in line with the settlement recently reached for school teachers.
