Fire At Wath Recycling
EDM number 769 in 1990-91, proposed by Peter Hardy on 29/04/1991.
That this House notes the anger and the concern felt by many people in South Yorkshire about the continuing presence of over 2,700 drums of toxic waste held by Wath Recycling at Wath upon Dearne near Rotherham for almost two years; records its relief that a fire at this site on the morning of 29th April was dealt with most effectively by South Yorkshire Fire Service; appreciates the contribution both of that service and of the local elected representatives who have maintained vigilant interest; but recognises that serious anxiety will persist until the material is removed and considers that it is more than time that it was.
