Open Heart Surgery In South Wales And Conduct Of The Hon Member For Pembroke
EDM number 751 in 1990-91, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 24/04/1991.
That this House notes with deep concern the parliamentary answer of the honourable Member for Pembroke to the honourable Member for Gower of 18th March, Official Report, column 4, regarding the number of open heart surgery operations in Wales, during Welsh Question Time, alleging that no such operations had taken place in Wales before 1979; notes that subsequent research has confirmed that these operations began in Wales in 1956; and finds it alarming that the honourable Member for Pembroke, in his capacity as the Government Minister responsible for health matters in Wales, should get his answer wrong by 23 years, thereby raising the question of the factual basis on which the honourable Member makes his ministerial decisions on health in Wales.
