Offer Of Electricity Vouchers By The Scottish Electricity Companies
EDM number 722 in 1990-91, proposed by Alex Salmond on 18/04/1991.
That this House deplores the decision by the two Scottish electricity companies to make available sweeteners of ú18 in electricity vouchers for every 100 shares allocated as part of the share offer; and believes that the aforementioned companies would be far better using such resources to reduce all electricity bills for Scottish consumers and businesses or better still to abolish the iniquitous standing charge which imposes additional hardship on hundreds of thousands of Scots pensioners, the low paid and all those who are struggling to make ends meet.
