Publication Of The Wresinski Approach

That this House welcomes the launch by ATD Fourth World of the report 'The Wresinski Approach: the poorest - partners in democracy', written with the collaboration of very disadvantaged individuals and families from throughout Britain; welcomes the attention drawn by this report to the wishes of very poor people to be considered partners rather than recipients in anti-poverty programmes and recognises the effectiveness of drawing on the understanding and efforts of the very poor themselves in determining and evaluating measures to combat poverty; recognises the effectiveness of building bridges between Government departments in providing the essential basic securities that everyone needs to live decently and contribute to the life of the community; believes this Report to be crucial reading for Ministers responsible for education, employment and training, housing, health care and social security and the support of families; and invites the Government, as a matter of urgency, to study the proposals and recommendations of this report in order to reinforce present efforts to understand and overcome poverty in Britain and Europe.
