SCHNEIDER'S BID FOR SQUARE D COMPANY

That this House believes that the bid for the Square D company by the French firm Schneider, which is associated through French banks with the French Government, would lead to its obtaining a dominant position in various industrial control and electrical distribution markets which could be contrary to the public interest; and calls for the referral of the bid to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission.
