Cases Of Cars Catching Fire
EDM number 698 in 1990-91, proposed by Jimmy Wray on 15/04/1991.
That, in view of the alarming recent findings in Lincolnshire about car catching fire cases, this House demands from Her Majesty's Government an urgent review of the quality and safety controls of car building, repairs and use; also demands an urgent study of the extent and frequency of car catching fire accidents in Scotland, England and Wales; and expects full statements from the Secretaries of State for Trade and Industry, Transport and Health on the different aspects of this matter, which are part of their Ministerial responsibilities, from the quality controls in the motor car industry to the health and safety aspects involved, as soon as possible.
