Crisis In The London Ambulance Service
EDM number 679 in 1990-91, proposed by Tony Banks on 27/03/1991.
That this House views with alarm the information that up to 10,000 out-patient journeys per month to London hospitals are being cancelled due to shortages of staff or resources within the London Ambulance Service; is gravely disturbed by the continued deterioration of management-employee relations within that Service, whose management plans to reduce its establishment of officers by 50 posts and deny them representation by Whitley Council;and therefore calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to refer the current dispute to ACAS in an attempt to ameliorate the mounting damage to the Service, to the people of London and to ambulance staff, arising from the plans and conduct of the London Ambulance Board.
