Nationalist Parties And The Poll Tax
EDM number 659 in 1990-91, proposed by Ron Davies on 26/03/1991.
That this House is amused to note the sacking of the SNP poll tax spokesperson for his consistent support for the policy of non-payment; wonders whether the Welsh Nationalist Party will fall in line or not; doubts that, in either event, the hapless Nationalist non-paying candidate in the Neath by-election will appreciate the volte-face on the part of the Scottish Nationalists; is convinced that the interest of the people of Neath and all those who oppose the poll tax will be best served by a resounding vote for the excellent Labour candidate in the Neath by-election; and concludes that his victory will presage the eventual final removal of the poll tax by a Labour Government.
