International Fund For Animal Welfare

That this House congratulates the International Fund for Animal Welfare for its successful campaign to secure a ban on the commercial hunt of baby whitecoat harp and hood seals in Canada; notes with alarm the pressures to increase the killing of adult seals in Canada; calls upon Her Majesty's Government to use their influence to secure a ban on all seal products within the EEC; and requests Her Majesty's Government to make the strongest possible representations to the governments of Norway and the Soviet Union about the continuing slaughter of seals in those countries and to encourage the government of Canada to build on their programme of seal protection.
