Anti-Discrimination Legislation

EDM number 62 in 1990-91, proposed by Sylvia Heal on 13/11/1990.

That this House applauds the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act which outlaws unjustified discrimination against the United States of America's 43 million disabled people and gives them new rights of employment, transport, access and communications; deplores the denial of these rights in Britain; and calls upon the Government to introduce a similar measure in the next session of Parliament to provide equal opportunities for the United Kingdom's six million disabled people.
