Pensions For Spanish Civil War Veterans

EDM number 601 in 1990-91, proposed by Ron Brown on 13/03/1991.

That this House notes that 55 years ago the Spanish Civil War broke out as result of a rebellion organised by General Franco; recognises that the Republican Government was defeated despite the heroic efforts of democrats and socialists in general, particularly the International Brigade; and calls on the present Spanish Government to acknowledge its debt to the volunteers by paying a pension to the few living survivors of this important struggle against fascism.
