The Apex Trust In York
EDM number 589 in 1990-91, proposed by Max Madden on 11/03/1991.
That this House urges the Apex Trust in York be kept open; recognises this project provides valuable training to ex-offenders and more recently to those with physical disabilities; notes 30 trainees receive training in typing, wordprocessing, office procedures and woodwork; regrets the project is threatened with closure and staff have received redundancy notices; believes it wrong that trainees should be required to travel to Leeds or stay overnight in Durham to train; and urges the Secretary of State for Employment and the local Training and Enterprise Council to obtain funds to enable the Apex Trust in York to stay open permanently so that is may continue to unlock the potential of its trainees and help them to secure worthwhile, full-time employment.
