Old Age Pensioners

EDM number 577 in 1990-91, proposed by Alan Meale on 06/03/1991.

That this House recognises that the time has now come for the national retirement age for both men and women to be set at 60 years; believes that at this age a senior citizen in the United Kingdom should receive a pension of not less than one half of the national average wage for a couple and one third for a single person in order to ensure their financial security in old age; and further urges that all such persons should as of right be entitled to free and comprehensive health care, including the supply of any prescribed medicines and substantial travel concessions to enable them to meet their everyday needs.

This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs.
